Back in the Eighties

by Peter J. Crowley on April 29, 2008

In the Eighties I was not in Norwich but the State Hospital was a major employer for the region. Now left to lie in ruin all that is left is shadows of past life’s etched in the peeling paint and rotting wood. Broken windows and broken dreams/nightmares. Now the carcass of the Hospital is a political feeding ground for dreams of power, money, smoke and mirrors. The vultures circle and spin the truth out while the guards watch over the ghosts and the memories in the shadows of success or failure.

Today, tomorrow the eighties or the new millennium Identity?

by Peter J. Crowley on April 24, 2008

1908-2008-1984?

Who are you? Are you the person you think you are or are you the person your co-workers, drinking buddies, students etc think you are? You could be your screen name[s] or any number of aliases. Has this high speed artifiscal intelligence world contributed to multiple identities? Or is this IPodian “society” stripping us of individuality of identity? all of yous enjoy pjc

Slipping From the 80′s today

by Peter J. Crowley on April 18, 2008

Last week I came across this display at a chain bookstore, I suppose you could call it “Found Art”
a popular genre in the world of everyone is an artist. I just call it “Worship.” I suppose you could call most photography found art from the spectacular landscapes to the highly manipulated conceptual that you and artificial intelligence collaborated on to create with your prosumer latest upgrade. I being a dinosaur prefer to think of it as seeing what is right in front of me and visually commenting.
Yesterday I had lunch at Dalton’s Pub while waiting for a print at RJ Phil’s Custom Lab in East Hampton and the owner was an old friend from the 80′s. So I am not straying to far off track. The food was great and the memories warm and fun. More from Dalton’s the 80′s and The Nutshell later. enjoy pjc

Brimfield Ma. July 1982

by Peter J. Crowley on April 6, 2008

The Brimfield Antiques Markets was where I could be found in the eighties a lot. Working for The Wooden Nutmeg I would travel to many Antique Shows. This old auto was for sale in July ’82, I bought a tin box. Brimfield happens three times a year with thousands of dealers. It is a photo op paradise.
Maybe I’ll go in May this year. Travel an old road for anther look. enjoy pjc
