From a cowboy hat to cowboy country

Now back in the Northwest I meet and photograph a very talented writer from North Dakota in the back window of the trains last car. Bouncing along into the Cascades with Rick assisting me holding fill light. The eyes of America are warm and concerned.

I set out on this journey primarily to attend my daughters wedding. Which was wonderful. Due to air fares and the general annoyance of air travel I was fortunate to take advantage of Amtrak’s rail pass. So for 15 days in August I set out to capture America through the eyes of the people on the rails. enjoy pjc

Back in Wisconsin in the observation car.

As previously mentioned this series of images won’t always be chronological. So here back on the August 14th is Jeb we sat and talked for a couple hours. A man with many experiences we shared thoughts on culture, politics and art, the state of humanity. Over the din of laughter and beer from behind us and the accusing soccer mom. He demonstrated a quality of conversation somewhat rare these days he listened with his eyes wide open. enjoy pjc

Faces of America from either side of the tracks.

Just call me an old Marine this gentle man said when I asked to take his photo. A face on the tracks we spoke only briefly but much was/is said. enjoy pjc
