A Summer stroll…..

by Peter J. Crowley on August 31, 2009

This week I wander through Stonington Borough celebrating/lamenting the end of Summer.

TheBoroughSummerDoors-D-51-09-9

The door an entry or an exit what lies within. Since the early 70′s I have been photographing doors. A metaphor for change, opportunity what lies beyond? A walk and lunch in Stonington Borough last week, a drive an omelette and my journal yesterday and this weeks feature was created.

The door, the seasons, days, weeks, ……………………….

It’s the last day of summer, what did you do?

Life measured in units created by me created by you.

Seasons, semesters, and a metaphor or two.

It’s the last day of summer, what did you do?

Fifty nine years and I still hear the school bell.

It’s the last day of summer for me and for you.

A Storm Brews

Thunder and lightning.

Driving along route 32 on August 11th I watched this cloud rise and threaten playing cat and mouse as the light faded. Nature in all it’s beauty but also it’s power, a metaphor for Connecticut’s and the worlds economy soon it will pour but the relief of a summer rain will not trickle down to the poor. Image made by the former Mushroom Farm in Franklin Ct. Closed!     enjoy pjc
