What Holiday is it anyway? Hallowmass

Sunday evening on a windy cold spooky night I was driving back from Brattleboro on the last leg of my 2 hour journey right here in Ea$tern Connecticut I began to notice houses decorated for Hall..... No No those aren't Halloween Lights, I'm not a big fan of Halloween lights or compresser skelatons but hell there's plenty of oil. We live on a planet that has infinate resources and room for at least another 300 billion people to waste them. No these were Christmas Lights for it is again the begining of the season of the Sellabration of Saint Consumer rising above all expectations of Excess and Flying throught the air in his/her Green Hummer On Visa, on Discover, on Mastercard, on layaway, Now trash away, trash away, trash away all. Remember without Plastic even landfills themselves would be impossible. Boo, Merry, Happy, Deck the, Whatever. Ho Ho pjc

Norwich, Three Cities

I've been in Norwich for 5 plus years and watched as downtown has changed. There were up time and down times. This image is of a fire escape on The Alice a restored building on Main Street. Empty for the first 4 years it now is active with tenants. I often am accused of having a negative outlook. [no pun intended] As I look at this building some days I feel the stairs are going up sometimes down. This is the second old struggling City for me in the last twelve years the first produced a book. What Norwich will yield is still on the stairs unsure of whether the stairs are going up or down. Which way do you see the stairway going?

Willimantic, Norwich, Brattleboro, The first two I've lived in and worked on the "arts" led revitalization. Brattlboro is that the next stop? As a frequent visitor since mid summer I have been documenting my visits or a better way of putting it is I have been creating self portraits of a small city. Self portraits of the way I want to see America and the world heading. I'll be back in Brattlboro again tomorrow looking for America, and that dream that I learned in school as a kid.

More Brattleboro Coming Sunday.

Last Sat. I was in town and found many interesting people. I'm thinking about shooting Harmony Parking Lot Portraits this Sunday. I hope to arrive early say 9:30-10, It's a two plus hour drive so that's early for me. Candids, posed, costumes or just you relaxing in your race car bed. I'll be around most of the day so if you see me say hello shoot me. If you read this pass it on to others who may want to be subjects, actors or just be yourself. enjoy pjc

A quiet moment between rehersals

Friday nights opening was packed. Due to DOT Ma. and the Greenfeild Bridge on Rt91, leaf peepers and The Nina, The Pinta and The Santa Maria off for a three day Bud Lite weekend we arrived late. The streets were teeming with humanity and we wandered took in the sights and grabbed dinner. Saturday found smiling faces a cool morning and a warm afternoon. Pot pies, pumkin ice cream, or cheese cake depending on who's plate you looked at during desert at The Chelsea Royal Diner in W. Brattleboro. Lunching late with my body by butter and Guiness bodyguard who keeps me in line which can be a hell of a job. She shopped I shot we had a great time my images will be appearing here often. enjoy pjc

Brattleboro Vt

Well it's been a couple of months since I last wrote here, busy yes, distracted definatly. The good distractions are the ones to speak of tonight. Since finding home in Norwich late July, I have been more focused on creating new work. It wasn't really Norwich I found more it was a return of the muse within. Seeing the highlight. In August a trip to Brattleboro reintroduced me to a city that sparked my muse, that is abundent with creativity and smiling people. The mountains, the clean air, the forty something stops on the First Friday Gallery Walk. There has been a second trip, would have been a third except for a small fire upstairs [that was a bad distraction little damage lots of water and chaos for seven days] A show in Sept. at ArtSpace with Sculptor Joey Sage Jablonski of our two mediums and views of the figure as an artistic statement.
But tomorrow it is off to Brattleboro again for the opening of The In-Sight Photography Project annual Silent Auction and Exhibit. In-Sight is a great program for teaching kids about photography [film wet darkroom]and more. Check out their website I have a piece in the auction and a page on my site of the newest project of mine. The Brattleboro Portfolio. First there was "All the Usual Subjects" a limited editon book of my work in Willimantic Ct. Now there is Faces and Facades a Five year look at the rebirth of Norwich Ct. and its downtown. A small sample can be seen on my site. Now there is Brattleboro where I plan to visit shoot and be at least a part time resident. Heck it's only 120 miles and gas is cheap. So I'll be there for the opening and all day Sat. the 7th wandering and shooting, if you see me say hi or can I be in your book, or I know something you should see.
Well enough rambling for now please feel free to post here on my blog or email me. Looking forward to meeting, and visually communicating with you. enjoy pjc
