The Final Frontier and a question
City Hall the final frontierSo does anyone stop here? I have no idea. The only way to tell is to see my profile views and unless you look at "my complete profile" that counter doesn't advance. You could of course comment some of the regulars I know you see what I do here for you email or comment. But are there others? Shall I go on? I had hoped this would become a forum for creative though and images, words similar to my former column on Nikonians.
You can comment on this image or previous posts and if you want to join in with images contact me and that can be arranged. All for now, perhaps another post later with a copy of one of my columns?

Winter Farm Mansfield Stearns Rd
A light coating of snow covers this corn field. A promise of spring and planting in the tire tracks leading to the corn field, the foreground if my memory serves me well will be hay. Image made about a month ago when the temp was 10-12 degrees and the wind howling at 20-35 MPH.A couple weeks of warmth 50's and 60's has left me and most of you ready for spring. But March may go out or at least middle as a lion with more white stuff in the forecast. Pray for rain and spring. Comments on any of my posts would be appreciated or at least look at my complete profile which will activate the counter and I will have the knowledge that someone is looking.

The Photography Center of the Capital District
Better know as
The Photo Center of Troy
Opened in February of this year. An ambitious and inspiring dream of Nicholas Argyros has awakened at 404 River St. in Troy. The blend of the old and new in the fast changing world of photography is warm and welcoming reflecting Nick's love for the medium. There is a museum and studio space, many computer stations and equipment. The Library houses at least 1000 or more books on photography, history, techniques, images. It is a treasure that Troy should embrace, whether you are a photographer or not the center is worthy of a visit. See a show in the gallery, sign up as a member, take a workshop. All this and more information is available on their web site linked above.
During my whirlwind tour of Troy and Schenectady Wednesday and Thursday Nick allowed me to shoot with a model in this beautiful three story building that inspires creativity. The image above was made in a curved stairway with low light. Those of you in The Schenectady Photographic Society will note the use of negative space and the recuring triangles I've used to create this image. My only regrets are that I had only two hours to shoot and wasn't fortunate enough to meet Nicholas Reinert the Director of the center. I will see you on my next visit I'm sure. enjoy pjc

Schenectady Photographic Society
On Wednesday evening I had the pleasure of speaking to the Schenectady Photographic Society. My topic was negative space and how to use it to direct your viewers attention to the subject. There was nothing negative about this group of approximately sixty people who actively contributed to a lively debate on this topic. Negative space is a simple concept yet it is also a very individual concept, one that isn't found in any program or mode it is a creative choice and interpretation and I came away with as much new thought on the subject as I hope I provided. These folks were certainly the most interactive group I have ever had the pleasure to speak before. They meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 all the particulars are on there web site linked above. Meetings are open to the public free and well with it if you are anywhere in the area. enjoy pjc

A Sukumar Tour of Troy
Wednesday and Thursday I had the pleasure of spending with my friends Sukumar and his wife Sunanda in Troy NY this image was taken Wednesday afternoon with a 200 mm lens as I tried to keep up with Sukumar on the quick tour of the entire City of Troy before his 4pm meeting. The Sign at the left echoes my thoughts. LOL Seriously I had a great time and could not have been blessed with more gracious hosts than Sukumar and Sunanda.Photographic Art
