Still in Seventies 1975 Westford Vt.

The image from May of 1975 but the nails could be 1875, my series of White Wood transcends time. I still shoot it although farms are harder to find in New England. "Food" is now genetically engineered why eat real food when you can pop supplements. I also was/am very intrigued by textures. Many old roads to travel and re see. enjoy pjc

Not a war zone but the restoration of an old thread mill. No more big box architectural cancer

White Wood A project started in the 70s

1975 Westford Vt I started to shoot close ups of old farm houses and barns. Looking closely at the world and the simple beauty that time and weather presents. In the Seventies [those who didn't accept disco believed that the 70's never happened we just reran the sixties] we still believed we as individuals could make a better world. We were wrong. enjoy pjc

Still in the Seventies Cosey Beach Ave. Early Muse 1972

A young girl who modeled for me while we lived in E. Haven sits in a burned out summer cottage. The instruction was to create a mood as if this was your home and it is gone from you all that is left is memories.
There seems to be a trend of shooting models in abandoned factories and buildings now some 35 years or so later. Maybe I was ahead of my time, naw no spiked high heels. enjoy pjc

Vermont far northern was an early inspiration. 1973

Winter of 73 and the rectangle was beginning to take shape in my mind. Themes that still occupy my creative exploits were emerging. Simplicity, is perhaps the hardest concept to grasp. Now 34 years later I still seek it in my images. I work front end composition. Un cropped [this is] everything in the image I put there. Positioning the subject in the negative space so your attention is drawn there, by triangles in the foreground road I am standing on leading to the road the truck is on and the ultra white field on the backside all point to the logging truck. Small business a current theme is represented here also. The only difference is that side road I am standing on waiting for the truck to chug into it's moment is probably 10 to 20 below zero and you would be hard pressed to find me standing in that cold. LOL! But hey you never know. enjoy pjc

Staten Island Ferry.Circa 1972, early looks at negative space and triangles.

Although not firmly implanted with seeing the negative space my mind already was seeing it. Even most of my earliest images were un cropped or I had a lot of trouble deciding a little off the top or a little off the bottom. Also I was never one to steal a persons image. This women looked at me and my camera, I pointed it at her from shoulder level she nodded an approval, depress the shutter a moment is created. The triangles all lead to the strong yet ambiguous eyes. Tri X 400 at 400 Nikon F 1971 105mm 2.5 lens f-8 1/125 somethings the mind remembers. So for a few or more posts as I file negs from 35 years of following the rectangle observing and commenting I'll post a little history of my life in photographic art. I hope this will be my second book want a copy?
