Norwich History 10 or 100 Years Triptych

by Peter J. Crowley on May 21, 2010

September Eighth 2002

Since arriving in Norwich I have been documenting the Cities attempt to revitalize in a very harsh economy. The Wauregan’s restoration is a focal point in downtown. The back wall has been a subject of mine for most of the nine years. First a shot from my “Layered Life Series” that abstractly presents 100 or more years of history, [difficult to see the nuances of downtown Trolleys in reflection at 72 pixels see comment here]  to the second image from the restoration and the third image of  the old Painted logo/Hotel name.
August Nineteenth 2004

March Twenty Fifth 2004

The third image brings me full circle as it speaks of the influence of Walker Evans on my images. The painted wall art of the 30′s Walker’s images were portraits of a nation, of the people but often without a person. These three images briefly tell a story of Norwich history through my lens/eyes, changing facades. A sketch of the past an outline to the future.

These images will be published for collectors as an edition of 75   Giclee Triptych for $132.50 tax included, or as an ink jet poster for the economically challenged. The three images will be 5 x 7 inches. There will also be an edition of 25 silver gelatin prints matted as a Triptych price to posted when I get matting/framing cost quote.  Questions and orders mail@peterjcrowley.com.

That third image is absolutely amazing, and the layered life stuff is really starting to grow on me–an acquired taste, I guess. Norwich is so lucky to have you!

Leslie,
Thank you. The layered life images particularly the B+W really need to be seen as prints. The screen just doesn’t separate the layers. Wander around from the links to see other images of Norwich. enjoy pjc
