Congressional Reform

12.10.2009 by Peter J. Crowley // 1 Comment

So Simple even a kitty can see the Problem

Zacko-

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!!*

*I am sending this to virtually everybody on my e-mail list and that includes conservatives, liberals, and everybody in between. Even though we disagree on a number of issues, I count all of you as friends.  The proposal is to promote a “Congressional Reform Act of 2009.” It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
I know many of you will say, “this is impossible.”  Let me remind you, Congress has the lowest approval of any entity in Government, now is the time when Americans will join together to reform Congress – the entity that represents us.
We need to get a Senator to introduce this bill in the US Senate and a Representative to introduce a similar bill in the US House.  These people will become American heroes..  Please add any ideas on how to get this done.

Thanks,

A Fellow American*

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six-year Senate terms
B. Six Two-year House terms
C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms*

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

*2.  No Tenure / No Pension:
A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.*
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

*3.  Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately.  All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.*
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, server your term(s), then go home and back to work.

*4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans*..

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

*5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.  Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.*

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned  citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

*6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

*    Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career..  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

*7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people..

8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/10.
The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.*

Sent to me by a friend.  Stand up “We the People” need to clean The House and Senate. I might add One six year term for the President so that four years are not wasted on getting re elected.

Landscapes-Seascapes

MontvilleLandscapeFall-D-63-09-34
Montville on a fall afternoon, neighborhood duality farmland on one side and suburbia on the other. Me I’m between here and there.

ThimbleIslandsStormClouds-D-62-09-33
The Thimble Islands sun setting providing a hint of winter. So I don’t shoot a lot of landscapes but these two distracted me in my travels. If you click on photos there are old thoughts on distraction. Same old thoughts but having thoughts beats the hell out of regurgitating Foxisum News or Wall Street Provda. After all the recessions over, and Senator “anything for a buck” Joe is still employed so screw the 7000 people losing benefits a day. But I digress as I listen to King Cake sing Pork Rinds. Something about pork always make me think of our corrupted awfiscials.  Oink oink.                                                                     enjoy pjc

Election day Aprils fools

04.01.2009 by Peter J. Crowley // 5 Comments

Winter lingers in the trees, spring shimmers in the pond.

April first and I was thinking. I know that is shunned upon but I still try. Thanksgiving a Holiday where families get together, perhaps the most family oriented holiday where we put our differences aside. But every four years [2 if you count the off presidential election years] the coming of this holiday is mired in an election. During the 3.5 years of campaigning mud slinging, lying, bribing and dirty tricks we are subjected to are followed by a meal with family where the winners are gloating and the losers are sour. Of course there is that off hanging chad year where the fraud is so prevalent that it can’t be photoshopped out of our consciousness so we give our rights over to the courts for a fair decision. Ha ha ha ha. I digress. So as I dosed off last night I thought “Maybe we should change election day to April First?” It seems to me that would be more reflective of the true nature of the Democratic Process that for the last 3.5 years we have had rammed down our collective throats. Happy April Fools Day and don’t forget to get your taxes paid for some where there is a CEO and a Senator without enough fuel to fly the private jet to Palm Springs. enjoy pjc
