Main Street Norwich last light 6:30 pm on April 17th early Tulips in a planter. Today and yesterday’s temperatures in the eighties will bring out the Tulips crowding the gardens like a debutant ball. Spring is here with summer temperatures. Perhaps you’ll see me wandering round New London or at the Bean and Leaf for poetry open mic. Say hello if you do.


On my way to Southbridge April first we, Tammy my student for the day and I were the April Fools thinking it would be warmer, had to stop for coffee at The Vanilla Bean, rarely do I drive by The Vanilla Bean the car just kind of turns into the lot. Well there was a guy there and his Springer kept coming to look in on his master. I caught him peeking in hoping for a treat. enjoy pjc

Antiques and Stuff for the sake of stuff.

The old, Gallery on the Green Columbia Ct. I had a show there in a past life. Neal asked me as he looked at the catalog “if every image is untitled why do they all have names?” I told him they were nicknames some images just were called things usually by friends and they stuck. Plus people really like names it helps them compartmentalize their stuff.



The new a case of irony as the image here is digital, new shot of antiques. Some collect Antiques and decorate or enhance there old colonials with them to keep the feeling of a period long past. Some just one or two pieces pasted down from family a more emotional memory of someone from their family. There are collectors who love a style or who hope to turn a profit. Then there are those who just buy for the sake of buying who make no distinction of what to buy, for the climax is the purchase followed by short period of cuddling showing off their new purchase then off to the storage unit. Me I mostly watch I have a few collections, Tin Boxes, Art Deco Glass, Art, Baseball Cards. Place holders of memory scattered about with little decorative panache. Some days I think of selling some of these collections, mostly dark cold days. I create collections, emotional moments of time, past, present and future. Sometimes the line between the past and the future is intentionally blurred to encourage contemplation to layer life in a metaphoric time machine. Today the sun shines and a warm spring day beckons me to travel an old road without destination for it is the journey one learns most from, “Somewhere between here and there.” That’s where you will find me. enjoy pjc

SOMA Dance Co. and Human Intelligence

Last night I had the pleasure of photographing this dance company at their tech rehearsal for Saturday nights performance at The Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford Ct. Check them out. This is a digital image shot at 1/60 of a second ISO 1600 most of the diggie I shot was at 1/60-1/8 of a second at F 3.5- 4 which makes for lot’s of blur that works as an effect if that is what you want. But the film I shot at ISO 800 [a roll to come at 1600] was shot at 1/250 F 2.8-5.6 A 250th of a second allows you to stop the motion and gives the human intelligence the privilege of making choices. Remember making choices? Somewhere before your last $2000 upgrade. Go see the Dance see the movement and enjoy art.
