What a place to start out on a visual journey by the sea there is something magical about the water. I walked the 2 miles of beach most days.  1972-73   a couple of images Tri X 400 D-76 vision sharper than technique. The man, bench and bike is East Haven?

The Seventies or for Those of us Who Didn’t Disco “The 60’s” Version 2

02.13.2016 by Peter J. Crowley // 5 Comments

There was always “The Muse.”  1973 just started seeking, unsure of direction, not knowing the muse. Francis a friend from High School who I loved sweetly. We didn’t really date but our closeness was intense perhaps scary. Later I would realize I loved all the muses. She was a romantic realist we shared that outlook. Her in NY me in E. Ct both missing childhood. An afternoon by the pond in back of the “Museum” her parents home in Coventry. Where in High School we would hang out a very magical place and time. Four years later we played, created, a kiss and laughter for a few hours we traveled back to the garden.

I last saw Fran in the early eighties we were both struggling with demons. I was back in Coventry after being assaulted, pistol whipped in Providence while losing the love of my life. Fran struggling with a marriage. We were both in Coventry we hung out smiled over lunch. We will get together again soon. She called I was busy she going back to NYC, me chasing lost love. She said good bye, I was sad confused wanting to see her but trying to find…………The demons took her I never saw her again.

The Seventies Old Roads and Trains to NYC

02.09.2016 by Peter J. Crowley // 1 Comment

In the beginning there was a Nikon F and a 50mm F 1.4 and me seeking a muse only to discover I am “The Muse.” New Haven Rail Station waiting for Metro North and a ride to NYC. Just a student of Photographic Art looking for a song to sing.

I guess this trip was after rush hour perhaps the 9am a quiet platform. When I would catch the train at 6-7am there were many suits on the way to work and few seats on board. By the second trip at that hour I had figured out to go to the Bar Car where there were seats and coffee. I was surprised having read about commuters and drinks. The Bar Car was full on the return trip.

Today I begin to review Forty Five Years of images, visual poetry stories told in a fraction of a second. Thanks to Mike and Jeannette ant the Photo Connection of Colchester their support and belief in my work has been there since close to the beginning for Mike. I now have a film scanner with their help I am getting to know how to use the scanner. There are many patrons in my life who have kept film in my camera, food in my belly and a twinkle in my eye.                      peace pjc
