Coventry arriving in 1954

Willimantic was the big City maybe cause I was 0-4 in Worcester so Willi assumed the role. Perhaps the first car expanded my world.

Happy nails spent many a day there of course in it’s prior life as Willimantic Camera and video.

The Brick School House in Coventry 1825, no I did not attend school there. I went to the Center School on Main Street that later burned down.

Coventry New England country life. Waiting for spring after coffee at Bruce’s we took a  short ride finding before I found an image.  March but the last time by the pond was still iced over. Now just barely visible are the red tree and bush buds. Here in Olympia I have flowers blossoming  in my garden.

Not a home of mine, it is at Carl’s in Manchester. I lived in a couple places in Manchester oh the tales form 1969, ’70 another post. For now just a place were I was always at home Carl’s.

Willimantic Norwich Mill Towns. From ’94-’14

01.09.2020 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

Just a few from a past life I have visited in the last couple weeks. TriX

Perhaps my most loved image from Willi Three Doors, all open many roads before me adventures unfolding.  Whidbey  Island  Wa. Teach  Photographic Philosophy. ArtSpace Norwich  2001  a studio  a new  mill town  to wander and create. An Art community gallery shows many friends. A theater across the street, an award. Writing a column on Nikonians about seeing, using your camera not being used by your camera manual images made in your mind understanding of creative process.

The Balloon Festival an antique auto show. I see graphic studies of light be it an old car or a nude. “All anyone ever photographs is light the subject merely a vehicle to transform the light into emotion.” A mantra that I live by today. In the mid nineties as AI had griped the film camera industry Auto Everything. Still through my column, speaking to Photo Clubs tutoring Studio workshops in Norwich many embraced the idea of thinking.
Arnold cutting stone from “a lazy sculptor’s work.” There was never enough time to be sipping tea or working on a documentation. He gave me this piece created from my photo. “I’d rather work from Peter’s Photographs then a a live model.” He told Claudia laughing as only Arnold could. ” The models always talk too much and have to go pee” His images allow me to see the front, back, sides at the same time.” Trips to the Port of Galilee he would sketch, I’d make color photos his easel “you are much easier and fun then lugging all the paints. At home he would use my photos and his sketches to paint from.

The Day, My Day, Any Day, Most Days

12.18.2019 by Peter J. Crowley // Leave a Comment

A Winter Days Routine

Schedules have become very important. Diabetes, insulin where meals became a medical procedure. A new med replacing Insulin has freed me from having to eat instead of seeing, being with the late light.

Up at 7:30 or 9:30 mostly out here it is pretty dark at that time. Coffee, rate how I feel how it will effect my day. Messages read a sarcastic comment or two. Breakfast on good day 8:45 after second cup. There is no morning light in the winter. Daily plan 4 days Liz  here marketing tasks I can’t do well. Inara after school once that is always a great day. At the market everyone knows my name like the Sundown years past. On a rare occasion when it is both warm and dry a bit of gardening on my beds and tiny prairie wild flowers to plant.  Wednesday home alone a truffle with first coffee if the body and sky says in today. A breathing treatment with nebulizer. Dishes done creativity a plan for lunch, at months end [20th-] it becomes a math problem what’s here what I still have cash for lol. Elza’s kitchen always serves a heaping helping of humanity.

Then there are distractions music a rare splash of light  of seeing if only out the windows or in my abode.

March 15, 2015 6:30 am. Boxes, Mike has shipped me my desktop a new table that today is much smaller ha ha.

Distractions I guess that makes scheduling so difficult. Creative moments from recent past 5 years. Time travel old images to peruse telling stories that lead to other stories.

Norwich 2002 a five mile walk led to this mailbox without a building. Fun. A five mile walk normal in 2002 new city no car reasonably healthy.

A kitchen converted to a studio here in Oly. Rarely used but it works and the results please me

Oh to have a muse, a monthly visit of eyes to speak with. Yes warm distractions, jazz, images, recent past…

and from an old life.  Maybe next post I’ll get beyond lunch? But I could become distracted. Stay tuned.
