On my daily stroll to Percival Landing, Downtown and Traditions I realized my eyes are working much better these days. Seems that my diabetes now controlled has made my eyes work back to a couple years ago when I needed a Plus one diopter not a plus two. Now I can use the D-3100 with my manual Brass and Glass lens. No longer stuck with the AF shit [kit] lens. A bit of the happy dance here. Still testing but these with said shit lens used manually are sharp. In the menu for the D-3100 is a sharpening setting so you can make the lens pretend to be optically sharp instead of having the elements of composite [plastic] lens actually be sharp. Since buying this camera with a built in diopter that is not strong enough for someone who needs a plus 2 I have been stuck using just the kit lens. End of rant!

All images on site are for sale except Portraits. The new digital B+W are available as work prints at a reduced price. [8×10-8×12 $75] Work prints are excellent except not as archival. By selling these at a reduced price I will see more of my work on paper and adjust the files to the standard of excellence my work is known for and help me to eat.

The Ballard of Easy Rider, The Byrds. As I sat by the Deschutes River Sunday listening to the river rush by carrying me to relaxation the Byrds song rolled through my mind.

Thoughts on the river,

Watching the river flow, so inspired by music my images are my songs “flow river flow let your waters wash down take me from this road”

Love written on the wall “To the Most Perfect Boy ever” scribed in chalk a lasting statement of love to be washed away by the next rain or in this case by park maintenance before she is finished.

Love portraits in the sun, a pregnant women on the bridge, a couple holding a flag as they hug, small family groups. Yesterday I was a member of a small family group out with Kirsten and Inara.

Love, today it is just me the sound of the river, I scratch my head and think of a time so many years ago my love told me that was a sign of stress. The 80’s when love came easy and left the same way. I listen to the river and wonder about love.

Five Decades a second Book

Color transparency, slide film, reversal film. Names for the premier color film. Fuji, Agfa, Kodak. The king “Kodachrome” rich saturated color. Have a roll of Velvia in one of my cameras now.

A couple mornings ago it was the mid 70s and I awoke to American Beauty. Jerry singing Ripple, “let there be songs to fill the air” coffee is on Tom and I sing along, Kirsten rubbing her eyes and getting ready to run. Some home made toast and Jam. Badminton, beer and pot. Westford Vt. moments that lasted forever etched into my soul. The cast in this 65 YO calendar has changed but Kirsten and I remain “Listen to the River Sing Sweet Songs to Rock My Soul” and the others are warm memories to visit often.

Digital the present, a new muse. The medium doesn’t identify or obstruct the creation. It is not about what your technology can’t do it is about making your technology do what you want.

The future a dream we race towards not sure if we arrive or just continue to race forward. Here the future is 7 months away. Birth, youth and the road to the future has a new traveler. Thirty year old Nikon Tri X warm tone Silver Gelatin Print my preferred road to all points.

Days, daze meander by as creativity visits from present and past. Memories of days in Willi wandering around the hill with Hugh shooting publicity photos as Hugh works on a new political song “Bills Dick” 1996 or so. I shoot a few we walk Hugh tries different verses we laugh. Let’s go to the carnival in Willi a carnival without rain very strange.

Much of my listening is to friends words and music. Hugh, Rex and Neil, Mike Bloomer, Jon Ball and the Exchange enjoy pjc
