Mail Autumn of the Written Word

02.07.2011 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

The Letter

Each day once a day the mail would come, perhaps a letter from a loved one, a post card from a traveling friend, hand written, time taken to speak with you from far away or cross town. A pen spreading ink on paper, thought with emotion messages of love traveling down a country road for you just you. Read savored and saved for later you would write back. Across town or across the sea someone waited for your response, your emotion, your love to come back to them on paper gently spread with ink of time taken to return your love.  Then tucked into a shoe box to be reread and savored again tomorrow or in ten years.

Doorways

01.18.2011 by Peter J. Crowley // 3 Comments

Entryways, old roads traveled once more. An early portfolio revisited on an autumn afternoon. I’ve been fascinated from my earliest exposure and before with what lies behind the door? Another world [one for you who know me this door is one I didn’t often take] visual stories of what is on the other side. Simplicity inviting you to create memories or fantasies. This Barbershop on main Street Manchester Connecticut. As a youth old enough to know about girls we’d go to Manchester for a movie, but really to stroll Main St. and see the “City Girls” for we were from Coventry a little farm town/bedroom community 15 or so miles east. Now across the street from the barber shop my friend Carl lives in elderly housing a converted elementary school. We still stroll main St. slower but still looking at the girls seeing how much has changed yet how everything is the same. The sweet allure of memory awakened by the simplicity of the image of the just right light transporting us between here and there.

Simplicy the thought that goes into the image, produces the thought that you add to the image. Simplicity is a very complex concept requiring more that 140 characters.
