The State Fair, Upside Down Traveling Through the Imagination

10.14.2015 by Peter J. Crowley // 6 Comments

September twenty first three kids, two moms and a grandpa join thousands of others at the fair. Food, Fun, Colors Sounds and Scary Rides.

DSC_0065 Ss15 G-4 flying 9-21-15Well scary for moms and grandpas. But not for the fearless 3’s a trampoline triple flips “higher, higher.” She wants to go on the slingshot 200+ feet in the air. Mom “you can go on it when you are 25.” “I’m 36 [inches] this year and can go on the giant slide.”

DSC_0012 S30 Crop Sat+9 Friends 9-21-15Meeting up we talk about what to do first. But the friends watch in wonder of so much going on hands held contemplating the rides. We can do that, not scary fun rides fast. The quiet thoughts evaporate and the fun begins.

DSC_0031 S15 Sat+10 Tracktor and Tongue 9-21-15All that is cool isn’t scary, there are tractors to plow the fields of imagination. With three kids the harvest is bountiful. The barns with piglets feeding on the video screen if you can’t get close, bunnies, birds and wonder. More then you can absorb in just one day “Grandpa Grandpa look at ………………… Faster faster Grandpa Grandpa.”

Sometimes the story is told with images, you can hear the laughter, feel the warmth and connection between children. Little hands, big hearts sharing each others joy and fear. At 3 you see clearly just seeing without the filters, walls, fear imposed and taught to you. I strive to be 3 seeing with my eyes and my heart. Telling the story with images for many more than three years.

DSC_0079 Ss15 Lots Spot LgtDrk DrkSky 100 The Ferris Wheel Wa The Ferris wheel at night shot at extremely high ISO a bit of grain [noise the new language] I knew it would be there I wanted the grain. The feel of film an understanding of the light my element.

DSC_0081 Cnvt Port Ss15 Bacon Wa 9-21-15Bacon certainly one of the most marketed foods lately, Vodka, Perfume gotta be Bacon. The Fair is not about low fat or cholesterol. The flavors of the fair enhance the air a potpourri  of the senses. In the 70’s I had a couple friends who would raise a pig or two a year, fed on garden scraps and from a couple fine restaurants. I would only eat Bacon at their house. Once you have had home grown well the plastic package of chemistry from the market is not edible. A slab on the cutting board smoked out back. Cut your own how thick what ever you want. Jerry Garcia on the stereo Sunday mornings …………….Drifting a bit here.

The Tiger Coaster with Mom and her friends Just fun, just fun.                               enjoy pjc

1-15-16,15, B+W film born again!

04.11.2015 by Peter J. Crowley // 1 Comment

The virtual life I find more and more annoying, first people don’t get sarcasm. Without tone of voice and eye contact  folks start jumping in being insulted and miss the point. With every sarcastic remark there is a nugget of truth, perhaps that is the problem folks automatically take remarks personally like I am taking to you. Usually I am not, usually I am. Put your mind on program and let your camera create. There is a rant perking yet it may not be completely cooked yet, more thoughts on rolls, identity, tech, emotion, creativity, art, etc my favorite and least favorite things. Impressions of humanity and the anti social networks. Stay tuned……………………………

Morning in Olympia, no really daybreak I rarely see this maybe it is still time zones, bad sleep, pain? But today the sun has come up dancing through my window. Old roads in Willi I always saw the Sun Rise. Norwich the first 10 years up and out early for I only had North windows but the Coffee was hot and the company was invigorating creative from Kyrena’s to Merrihews both opened at 8 but the door was open to me when I arrived between 7 and 7:30 warm Portuguese rolls at Merrihews and by the second third cup of joe Kyrena was bringing me a small plate of the lunch special. Try this Peter yum it was always perfect. Does it need a little more … Maybe a touch. The Reverend Jim at Kyrena’s and Shannon, Jim played a starring roll throughout my travels and the changing Coffee shops forward to City Perk and Kokopeleis. Latitudes on weekends at first and Joanne enters along Michelle who I had photographed through the window of Kyrena’s with Berta and The Scribe serving coffee. Kokopeli’s my Grumpy cup from Amanda was always full. The Muse was blooming.

Jeff and Jennifer Bishop holding doors open for me even thought I was dead during the 2011 troubles. Jeff helping me into the digital age while keeping my focus solid in film. Jennifer a calm voice to answer insulin questions and be there laughing about growing up together before we met. Two reasons to love the internet. Rees from Flagstaff another pixel friend who has become a real life confident creative and highly into B+W

I sit and write remembering a yellow poster with a wooden stool on it my daughter had in her room when she was “3ie” “Sometimes I sit and think, sometimes I just sit.” The Muse will be here soon and my mind will be taken to wonderful realms of creativity. Many more friends have held doors for me Marko sending me music when I need now listening to Punk Rock Jukebox from 2011 dedicated to me while I was hospitalized.                                                       peace pjc
