The Daily November 2nd

11.03.2015 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

The Daily well it won’t happen every day. The image may not be from that days images. So why The Daily, it sounds good LOL each day I shoot images with my Digital Nikon trying to learn how to optimize the quality of my images. Sometimes I’ll show these tests if they are fun, a good image and I can talk about what I tried to accomplish.

Today it is RED. I have found the most difficulty in creating images with lots of red. The problem has been separating the various densities without blocking up tones. today’s walk to the market provided my with this image. It was great to be able to wear shoes and walk for the first time since Wednesday.

DSC_0066 JPG Ss30 B-6 G-1 Brg Cnst 11-2-15This is right out of camera with shooting in Vivid +1 contrast  WB for shadow and +1 saturation. In PS I took out some blue and a bit of green. Minor contrast, and lighting. so to me it is okay but in my mind when I made the image I felt there was more separate red values. Opinions welcome.  enjoy pjc

Peter, you have courage to go into all this digital technique in detail…but then..you are a REAL photographer:) I do love the light on the leaf on the right side, the darker one, I love the dark reds with just the light reflecting on some places to lighten it up and the contrast to the deepdark background around the leaf…

    Morning Andrea,
The devil is in the details. Leslie who designs my site says that. Photography is lots of science with film time, temp, chemical formulas but all very tactile. I found it easier to use the “The right creative side of the mind” but the digital world is so much math for me difficult to emotionally connect. Adjust this, change mode, add saturation, ya di ya di. Light isn’t light it’s an equation. Kodachrome correct exposure, see, compose, create. I keep trying peace pjc
