And There Were Women in the Studio

08.01.2017 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

Brief snippets of verbal communication, most posing done with hand and eye cues. The conversation drifted through music, art, silliness and food, I almost always cooked while working in studio.

How’s this? Good nice eyes.

O.K. She worked at Friendly’s an aspiring model from Russia. Serious but we laughed.

What now? I’m tired. Not the real chat this is the look I asked for what’s it say to you?

The editing of 46 years goes on.

I look for an image a particular shot and memory. I find so many though, images commentary on life by a passionate observer. It is an emotional trip. Three Penny Opera Eastford Ct. 1979

Now my travels with my granddaughter.

The Flower, spring youth.

Women many think it is all I shoot. Perhaps it is all you see?

But it is all light creating emotion. Late day light in Bruce’s Kitchen from the sun and friendship.

August 2001 Dance In Seattle Japanese Gardens

12.10.2016 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

August 2001 a magical month part of a creative, productive year.

But Sept just after I flew home the world changed. The art world started a currently 15 years of disfavor and non support.

This isn’t about politics it is a celebration of my vision 330 rolls of film exposed in 2001, many images I am now seeing for the first time. It has always been about the next image.

A friend introduced me to Kim a dancer in Seattle. We met after my Workshop on Whidbey Island. We went to brunch and she showed me some of Seattle arriving at the Gardens I looked at the space as we waited to pay and enter. “Kim we can’t go in now.” I said “we need to go get you dance clothes.” Returning a half hour later we entered to a world on movement and magic.

2001 a time of change from Willi to Norwich for the next 15 years. More revitalization programs committees. More of the suicidal emphasis on NPOs everyone is a artist. All inclusive devaluing the professional artist.  I continue singing my song to the few that listened. To be an artist is not a weekend hobby or an after school activity. It is a commitment to seeing, expressing, communicating being a metaphor for the human condition.

Here are a few moments in time part of A Life in Photographic Art.

Photographic Art some more dance.
