The Beaches of the 70’s

09.10.2009 by Peter J. Crowley // 1 Comment

Not much different than the beaches of today. Emptying out so folks can go back to work or the unemployment line.

I can’t take this image anymore.

It isn’t a coincidence that I start this new site with an old image

made with Tri-X from June of 1973 a young Photographic Artist celebrating youth, before

“Fear became our Daily Bread.”

This image is film still my medium of choice. The blog will often be digital to satisfy the need for almost instant gratification. The images will never be goodnuff, they will be statements made with light of the highest quality I can create. No matter the medium I won’t just throw up 100’s of images that are cute.

This new site and blog has an opportunity for comments on the almost daily posts and the images in the galleries. A chance to have a dialog with me and others. The only app. is a donation button or the chance to buy a print, a book or commission a session and become art. A one on one way of supporting the arts, this artist.

Winter to spring, What is most valuble?

02.24.2009 by Peter J. Crowley // 27 Comments

Winter is reality and summer just a mannequin.

As the temperatures rise [we can only hope] and the dollar falls I ponder what is it that is of value? Friends of course lead my list. But beyond friends as an Artist I look at what other people put value on? Of course there are your tools and materials. But what else is there “Time!” How do others value the time of an Artist? I ponder how an Artist is defined in this new global world? Certainly not as a profession for a profession is defined by “Billable Hours.” Is it technique? Tools? Mega Pixels? Something you do on the side to give back to the community? Or perhaps Community Service after you have stolen the future of the elderly, the poor and the children of the world.
What is the value of time? What defines an artist? Just a couple of light hearted musings on a cold February morning. enjoy pjc
