Late Day Sun Streams into the Harp in Willi

The Harp Willimantic-9-14-13-024

Dinner with Wulf arriving early I of course started to make images. Wulf brought Eva and the three of us had a grand time. The food was very good. Ah but the light moved off the empty table and into the doorway and our eyes finally finding its way behind a building ending natures evening bright bursts. enjoy pjc

THE WIDE SWINGING DOORS
—at the Harp on Church in Willimantic

Afternoon blasts in with the random patrons
coming through the wide swinging doors
down the two rows of booths
shutter blinks aimed at the bar
diners and drinkers lit up
and Eva, Peter and I at our table
are beside the framed sky
when the doors open up
to deliver us the billowed clouds
and the lengthening sun
that clings to the street as we leave.

Fragments Broad St. Manchester ’60 ’13

BW Scans 0911001_edited-1

We bought a yellow and green Rambler here in the early ’60 Broad St a bustling street with many stores leading to the Parkade that 1/2 of is still there but half is bulldozed, yet Main St. Downtown still survives. An anomaly as many malls suck the humanity out of downtowns? Change is continuous yet sometimes it seems like a sundial on steroids. Now the bulldozers flatten most of the past, hope C-J’s Giant Grinders survives. Manchester has a new Mall Huge Mall where you can get anything you want except community. Further from downtown yet downtown still thrives. Well off to Manchester to visit with friends and go to no malls. enjoy pjc
