Friday Aug. 7th a Walk and a Vision

08.09.2015 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

On my daily stroll to Percival Landing, Downtown and Traditions I realized my eyes are working much better these days. Seems that my diabetes now controlled has made my eyes work back to a couple years ago when I needed a Plus one diopter not a plus two. Now I can use the D-3100 with my manual Brass and Glass lens. No longer stuck with the AF shit [kit] lens. A bit of the happy dance here. Still testing but these with said shit lens used manually are sharp. In the menu for the D-3100 is a sharpening setting so you can make the lens pretend to be optically sharp instead of  having the elements of composite [plastic] lens actually be sharp. Since buying this camera with a built in diopter that is not strong enough for someone who needs a plus 2 I have been stuck using  just the kit lens. End of rant!

[8×10-8×12 $75] Work prints are excellent except not as archival. By selling these at a reduced price I will see more of my work on paper and adjust the files to the standard of excellence my work is known for and help me to eat.

Well the day dawned in the upper 50’s with the forecast high low 60’s I wasn’t going to be cold or burn so I went in a long sleeve tee a work shirt and my vest. It reached the low 70’s but with the breeze I was perfect. An eventful trip as we bounced along at 50 mph round curves I noticed this women doing eye make up I was amazed. There was a warning noise and a check engine light. We pulled over as the driver contacted dispatch. I went to speak with her and show her my images. On her way to a job interview and her phone not working I gave her my phone to call her appt. On the way back she took the same bus telling us she had gotten the job. Kites, kids playing, horses cars on the beach even a swimmer or two just a normal day at the beach.

Watching Being Watched New London 2002

11.02.2012 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

Back in a retrospective mood today from the Layered Life series sort of, I also shoot a lot of signs neon. During this session I wanted my model tougher more present, lots of images in this series are made to look like the subject is from 1800’s contrasted with the modern. Working on some portraits sitting on the stair the man stepped to the window and the image was complete. Click an image made [in the old day’s we used to make negatives-images] today everything is captured. Personally I prefer making images whether it is with film like this or digital. Making an image just sounds better than capturing. enjoy pjc

The man in the window at Ernie’s approved this image. I brought him a print and bought him a beer.  Sitting at the bar he with his beer me a diet coke we spoke of Art and life. A moment from a life Fall 2002 memory of this moment Today August 25 2019
