November 3rd the Life of an Artist and a Free Print.

11.03.2015 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

Contest is over. Spend a moment with the images and thoughts.

Since my senior year at Coventry High I have lived life as an artist, seeing, pondering, communicating with visual words and verbal images.

SCAN0100 Ss15 sat+25 Cnst60 Drk25 Westford Vt 70sEarly travels to N.Vt a friends old house. An ad in Burlington Free Press a model to create emotions. Ad read call after 10 am, at 8:30 we took the phone off the hook 75 calls and I had booked Christine [funny I can’t remember names but 42 Years later hers pops right into my head] at 5-10 with expressive eyes the session produced wonder. Image made on Kodachrome.

bw-fine-CoseyBeachAmuseisborn-definedBut before Christine the muse was born on Cosey Beach E. Haven on my daily beach walk I found this young women we talked I created. We became friends and worked together a few more times. 1971 or ’72 I realized I could mirror my soul through a muse.

DSC_0003 S15 B-3 Drk40 Cnst+60 8-15-15The road wasn’t always smooth often feeling as old as my Beetle Bug I plugged along too often needing a mechanic [Doctor] to keep me running. The Muse sometimes a women, sometimes a flower but The Muse is me.

TheKinksRayDaviesPreludetodemonAlcohol-1-31-77-36There were some Kinks along the way Ray here doing an intro to Demon  Alcohol drinking a Heineken, “Sad memories I can’t recall.” Dance, theater performing arts the muse moved. Time, space reflections real, surreal, abstraction and identity joined the muse in the dance of youth and creation.           enjoy pjc

Photographic Art  In the late 90’s I chanced to meet The Muse at lunch mid afternoon by 10am the next morning we were in my studio for two years we worked many times. It was always magic.

One year today in Oly. one year since driving my Honda. Extreme highs and lows the middle ground rarely. Sometimes here sometimes in Ct. the mind journeys. So much to do to arrive in this new life. So many images to catalog, memories good and bad. The road not taken, would I have moved to Brattleboro if still in N.E. could I deal with winter. Slow starts to the day different then out the door 7am coffee at Merihew’s images both verbal and visual lingering over coffee. On to the next image, the best photo you have ever made is the next one. I still linger over morning coffee but alone. Sure I am not virtually alone online chatting without eyes to fully communicate. Not intimate enough. Bruce’s, Carl and Maarit’s Berta in her Lucky Charms PJs for lunch looking out on Norwich Harbor. Grandpa can we go to the restaurant? Bill Evans or The Violent Femmes what will today’s soundtrack be? This afternoon it will be the sound of sneakers on pavement the click of the shutter a breeze through the trees across the Puget Sound seeking the next image. Eyes wide open seeing with my heart there is no time just vision thoughts life.

Communication in a word or at least a contraction.

The Text Message

Keep that damn sun of my screen. Wa. State Fair. Colors, sound, games, food, PEOPLE. Texting, talking at not talking to. So many ways to communicate so little said, over and over. Had a dial phone as a kid till the early 2001 worked great talked socialized communicated thoughts emotion values. Mid 90’s the WWW and emails often thought out researched avenue for creative thought. Forums people of a like mind discussing ideas, emotions, Art. I used to communicate by email lots. A month or so ago a friend emailed me some news from back in Willi with a comment that she thought she might have to join FB to reach me. But my email still works my messages always longer than the response. Social nitwitting where shallow is taken to a new level. “The Like Button” where you can comment without a thought. How convenient.  Today I read that the “Like Button” is being upgraded now you can ad a pixel-ed  emotion to your Like how very sweet.  P.M.ing with an artist friend yesterday 5 interchanges friends replies total 25 characters including the exclamation point. I’m old but I still hope that communicating is more involved then to just figure out how few letters it takes to say nothing.  I think the image says how I feel about texting. At this point please click the like button at the top of the page.                  enjoy pjc
