Back in Galilee RI April 2010

04.29.2012 by Peter J. Crowley // Leave a Comment

Another image from the fishing fleet in Galilee RI. Two years since I have been there perhaps another look later this year. Been a lot in the news regarding the “fishing industry” it looks like another blow against small independents. I admit I haven’t followed the story well. Here is an article from The Huffington Post regarding over fished areas and the system of controlled marketing of fish. “One fish two fish red fish blue fish.” Dr Suess. Or how the Marine Stewardship Council rates fisheries. There are links in article to Washington Post piece and other opinions on over fishing. I just like the small business and the boats. Independent like the family farm that is disappearing.       enjoy pjc

Hygienic Art XXX ending this weekend.

02.12.2009 by Peter J. Crowley // 4 Comments

POLAROID HERO’S AND ART DEBRIS
FROM THE HYGIENIC FILES OF VINNIE SCARANO
at The Golden Street Gallery

In celebration of the Hygienic Art XXX show, this exhibition also includes Hygienic Art inspired paintings by Jacqueline Phillips, Terry Davo Davis, Glenn Hart and Davis Weber, poster art, and selections of writings, poems and graphic art from the Hygienic Mozaik of that year.

If you haven’t been to this show yet I feel it is a must see. The show is a grand blend of art and the history that surrounds this annual event and the driving force of creativity The Hygienic has become. The ghosts from the past swirl together with the hope of the future, upon stepping into the Gallery you are in the world of The Hygienic. Great show!
