The Winter Side of March 2020

03.14.2020 by Peter J. Crowley // Leave a Comment

March 2nd Mexican Art at Traditions Cafe. These eyes of mine continue to improve steadier opens up my lens selection. Here Nikon 85 mm 1/100 F1.8 ISO 100.

March 3rd outside my door 1/250 Nikon Micro at F-8 ISO 100 from about 5 inches away. A much lighter prime lens yet shake is still a big problem. The camera to subject distance  magnifies the visual shake.

Simon March 3rd Safeway parking lot. I saw him in the market we nodded to each other knowingly. I caught him outside introduced myself, he laughed when i asked to shoot him. “You have character, history and are the kind of person I am drawn to photograph.” We both laughed two images and a few minutes of talking, laughing a highlight to my day.

March 4th  around the block Spring peaks at me.

March 8th again the 85 mm a dark and cold morning my kitchen window my world view for to much of the time in recent years. But now my health better walking more, seeing better. Now spring!!

Spring!!! a view from March 11th around the block.

A Ray of light March 12th. Nikon AF [not on my D-3100] 28 mm to 105 mm  a much shorter turning radius on the focus ring. ISO 400 1/40 F4.5. No vibration control I am very pleased with the image Tech. and emotion. Is she not quite sharp? Of course she is 8 and never not in motion.

Places, homes from early in my work 1972-73, 1980’S

A tidal pool crossing Cosey Beach  Ave  1972. A daily treat to walk the beach with a friend. For a six month or so period I would step out the back door and soon be greeted by a Golden Retriever she was there for a walk. I never found out who she belonged to and she never asked to come in the house.

Squeeze  loading in for a 80’s summer concert on Madison Green.  Madison Ct. Summers, The Wharf at The Madison Beach Hotel. Arriving there to meet Jim in early May Dewey the bartender announces Peter is here the summer has begun.

A Radio Flyer to transfer winter warmth to the house.

Cosey Beach wasn’t glitzy the waterfront cottages were nicer. The neighborhood was poor. Strife between the city and the neighborhood after the city sold the playground to a restaurant. I found this all out the 2nd night I lived there. The 4th of July Independence Day  and the streets were full of people expressing there anger in no uncertain terms.

Stony Creek and Kodachrome a short ride made often for peace, wandering, seeing. I would return here through out my years in Ct. I rarely returned to Cosey Beach Ave. It became a destination as I rushed to get myself ready to move west.  So many places, people to see that Brattleboro and Cosey beach were left out.

Valentines Day 2020

02.16.2020 by Peter J. Crowley // Leave a Comment

Morning light manual focus my love is seeing

Winter color around the block The Driveway and the Tree. Morning stroll.

Good food, ambiance lingering conversation and seeing. Pellegrino’s a delicious Monte Christo.

Pioneer Park for a second walk. Trails, a river and golden grasses.

The stroll around the park in the low fifties was abruptly ended with a cold breeze dropping temps five degrees and a very cold shower. A fast dash to the car. The clouds were wild this from Safeway parking lot.
