The Circle Gets Smaller 9-23-19 I Still Seek and See Highlights

09.23.2019 by Peter J. Crowley // Leave a Comment

Wednesday 9/18, Thursday 9/17 1.5 blocks away. Yesterday 9/22 just twenty five yards, flowers dying, summer fades I want more sun, more time to linger stroll to see and shoot but winter beckons.

Childhood a dream a memory.

Art and food at my house July 4th 2019. Now it slowly dies. Still harvesting Broccoli, lettuce, Pumpkins, Peppers and Eight Balls. I wonder how I will close it for the year?

Now the circle is small this from last Thursdays walk one and a half blocks turn around to make it home.

Sunday it’s 25 yards still finding highlights in fifteen minute strolls that become staggers after a couple of bends to look down to see. Fall is the season, I try not to on route to a chair and oxygen.

Old Port Portland Maine. Early on a summer morning 6:30 coffee in the pocket of my vest, film in three cameras the light is grand. A couple days at the N.E. Artist Congress, dances, music panels discussing the roll artists play. Magic!

TriX and people in my viewfinder mostly memories now. Willimantic good memories I found a Muse we made many moments that last forever. The Muse in my Bellevue Studio.

On what would have  been Rees’s 80th birthday. Sept 2009 he saw me in my studio my world. I find now in Olympia that I had become a studio artist in the last few years in Norwich much more so after the long hospitalization. But by 2012 I was out and about again the road to Carl and Maarit’s a drive with highlights along the way to friends, food and frivolity. Rees took the ride there once with me and was immediately part of the Circle. It was Carl who coined the Metaphor of the circle. I embraced it wrote about and live the circle.

A ray of light visits her circle grows exponentially. Childhood visits through her eyes. I think there is no greater highlight.

Moments recently posted on Face Book not left for long.

09.17.2019 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

Over the last forty eight years I have created many moments. These moments have been brief lasting forever.  From news, documentary, performing arts.  The soul of an artist is in the negatives, each a self portrait. The way I communicate, comment on humanity. For quite awhile selling images to collectors, friends sitting talking about images and life. Art as a profession. That world has passed, replaced with speed and technology quantity not quality. The arrow has replaced the archer.  There are no more new negatives. Age and health have stripped this life away.  Anti social media has silenced discussion of images to cave drawings. The computer has saved us all so much time. Time to confront, attack and insult yet no time to communicate on art and life. Old for sure, bitter maybe but more sad that the world has reached the level where love is for money and hate, violence is the vehicle we ride to to reach the golden idle.

For now I will only post brief moments to Face Book to indicate I have new images here for me and you if you choose to follow. I can’t place my art on Face Book to sell their product.  I’ll be here alone with my images from a long wonderful life of creating, singing the same song to an empty auditorium. Pop by if you like. There will still be a healthy dose of sarcasm and an ocassional rant. peace pjc

“Art takes time, time is money, money scarce and that ain’t funny!”

Ray Davies and me

Sunday March 17th barely into my second cup of coffee  I was the guest of Cristina Querrer for her yourartsygirl podcast

Cristina is a multi discipline verbal and visual artist I met at ArtSpace Norwich Ct. She adds some history to me and the process to becoming a Photographic Artist. During the interview a window kept opening telling me my connection was unstable I thought so what me to,  perhaps why I sound…. Listen and decide how I sound.

Early spring temps soar to the 60’s on Saint Patrick’s Day to the eighties as the week progressed. I strolled around 1. 25 miles round the neighborhood. A very long walk for me these days.

March 17,2019

So now I’m ready for my for my close up. Wednesday March 20th I appeared in a video for Homes First  my excellent landlord. The video was created by Media Marketing Solutions my apartment became a set. “Real Artists of Western Washington” A great biographical sketch of me and how I ended up here in Olympia and how much I like where I live. Brandon and his crew created a real, relaxed atmosphere. I’m looking forward to the finished video. Premiering soon Black Tie I’m sure, really it will be on Homes First site in a bit.

On the 20th it was a bad breathing day, as they set up I was making sauce is short bursts 5 minutes to sit down repeat. Stress is apparently quite a trigger for COPD. Stress not related to the video  but sitting in my chair lights camera action I’m on. Those of you who know me and have been experienced [been subjected] to my story telling know we ran long. I look forward to seeing the finished project.  If it isn’t raining I walk daily, not far on the 20th enough to see and create around the property where my apt. is located.

Patty’s garden is inspirational a painting of the Earth by Patty and the Earth.

Color and light a four season exhibit a few paces down the walk. A friend who sees.

Around by the garage by the back walk new life springs from old. This stump now a host for other new life.

A bit of slightly over saturated leaves in our sidewalk garden. They will be this rich in a month I couldn’t wait. Then there is the age old photographers problem. If there is bird shit on a leaf do you leave it or clean it and now with all the tech do you use a tissue with a bit of spit or photoshop?
