A Day in Centralia

05.05.2018 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

Rees visiting from Oregon today a photo and food stroll. History, reflections, signage hand painted sets a Walker Evans mood a time and place in the past. I had the great fortune to meet Walker. His work made a lasting impression on how I see and speak with my images.

Coffee at the The Station Coffee Bar and Bistro. Folks love their work. Supreme ambiance and good coffee.

The Historic Train Station and Rees.

Lunch at The Olympic Club sitting on outdoor cafe. A bit of Walker appears in my images.

A round Oak and billiards at The Olympic Club a Mcmenamins Pub.

Wim Wenders and Me

02.27.2018 by Peter J. Crowley // 3 Comments

Recently read an article in The Guardian about Wim Wenders Polaroids. His thoughts on the Art Photography Genre rang true they could be my words.  “The culture has changed. It has all gone. I really don’t know why we stick to the word photography any more. There should be a different term, but nobody cared about finding it.”
“It’s not just the meaning of the image that has changed – the act of looking does not have the same meaning. Now, it’s about showing, sending and maybe remembering. It is no longer essentially about the image. The image for me was always linked to the idea of uniqueness, to a frame and to composition. You produced something that was, in itself, a singular moment. As such, it had a certain sacredness. That whole notion is gone.” That was my world and will continue to be it isn’t the problem of the copiers of things in front of them it is my problem for being unable to accept content and quantity as the new normal. Technically excellent void of emotion “What program did you use”? peace pjc

My Window My Winter Palette

12.03.2017 by Peter J. Crowley // 4 Comments

Rain, Pain and Dark limits my strolling.

Dark in the morning a slow start.

Often it is 3:00 before all the meds food settle. More often the sun doesn’t shine.

Today with Football at 10 am and Tiger being back. Well it was a slow start. The kitchen window didn’t start the show till  3:45 so I wandered all the way to the window with my 105 mm and shot.
