August 2001 Dance In Seattle Japanese Gardens

12.10.2016 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

August 2001 a magical month part of a creative, productive year.

But Sept just after I flew home the world changed. The art world started a currently 15 years of disfavor and non support.

This isn’t about politics it is a celebration of my vision 330 rolls of film exposed in 2001, many images I am now seeing for the first time. It has always been about the next image.

A friend introduced me to Kim a dancer in Seattle. We met after my Workshop on Whidbey Island. We went to brunch and she showed me some of Seattle arriving at the Gardens I looked at the space as we waited to pay and enter. “Kim we can’t go in now.” I said “we need to go get you dance clothes.” Returning a half hour later we entered to a world on movement and magic.

2001 a time of change from Willi to Norwich for the next 15 years. More revitalization programs committees. More of the suicidal emphasis on NPOs everyone is a artist. All inclusive devaluing the professional artist.  I continue singing my song to the few that listened. To be an artist is not a weekend hobby or an after school activity. It is a commitment to seeing, expressing, communicating being a metaphor for the human condition.

Here are a few moments in time part of A Life in Photographic Art.

Photographic Art some more dance.
