Black & White and Me Changing Philosophy of Seeing 50 Years On.

Spare change? Chip in on my paypal link.  Posting these stories is very time consuming. Or by mail, my address is on the contact page.

All the moneys gone no where to go.. I will keep delivering that magic feeling

Thank you peace

When I was 1 -2 years into creating Photographic Art, 1973. I had developed a style that included rigid composition, technique and presentation. No cropping, Walker Evans print quality, Focus a must.  This image from the late 90’s never made it to the darkroom. Perhaps a cursory glance as I looked at the film. Nope to flawed.

Now as I look again at old images todays sensibilities see a moment on this afternoon in #Willimantic. Recently I I saw a portfolio of

Romualdas Rakauskas Lithuanian master Black and White photographer.

An online photographic artist friend told me about his passing. A master has helped me to see deeper.

Out takes from sessions where the subject and me could not reach an understanding of what I wanted. This image from a test for my Woodnymph series. Not what I wanted but alright as a stand alone

My live long friend, Ken Morgan both of us artists from back to the 1970’s in Coventry Ct

Poised this thought. “how or why things get so clear so late in the game or is is it just me? …..another possibility “

I told Ken that it was pretty clear. Simplicity, seeing as a child so much peace and life to view and explore.

Willimantic 1999 the eyes all the metaphors apply. I like open conversational eyes windows to the soul.

Moments brief lasting forever. I have so many to relive, some to share conversational images that rarely receive a verbal response maybe the eyes speak, but no words to me.

To keep the focus is on seeking the highlights of my life is what keeps me alive. I also see the shadows as an effort to celebrate the highlights keeping negative space in composition not dark thought.Saturday, 9/25 a self portrait One more recent image before I head back out the door.

Peace my friends

Around the Block and My World recent Faces

09.18.2021 by Peter J. Crowley // 4 Comments

The kids around the block this one always speaks with me. Clever, articulate comments we laugh often.

From a developing series of strong working women. Her eyes are smiling of course.

On my strolls I often pass by this mans house. Today he was mowing the lawn a gesture he rolls the mower to me.  I start to tell him who I am he says he sees my photos of flowers. Today I shoot portraits of you and others along the way.

Strong working women these two landscapers were as happy to be subjects as I was to make their portraits.

The milk man is too quick for me missing him twice on this stroll.

September 9th I met this man. I had been sitting on his wall trying to gather myself as my walk was longer than planned. I got up and he was in his driveway and had not seen me behind a bush. I said hi and thank you for having a perfect height wall for me to rest he laughed. He said I glad it was right, this is a great neighborhood.

The tomato give away was visited by only these two neighbors. Photo’s are not required to pick my free tomatoes. There are still more to pick four varieties of cherry tomatoes see you soon.

Then there is me, trying to not be swept down the drain. Ha Ha

Again a couple young women made my day soar but when I realized there wasn’t a CF card in my camera down went my mood. Went home got a card was scolded by Fe. for not checking. We went back up Carlyon to Safeway they were at the bus stop on Capitol Way. Parking at Safeway we rushed to re-shoot. Forgetful is my middle name. The re-shoot was OK but the first session in my mind was better. Amazingly fast walk for me exhausted but pleased.

Ya I couldn’t decide two solos, or just the duet. Love smiling faces the world expands before them. They are the future thank for posing.

Look around there are many stories told, you can incorporate your own history. See a file or a tag to offer you selections of the theme you wish to explore.

peace
