Evening Colors Light the Way Downtown

01.12.2015 by Peter J. Crowley // 2 Comments

Olympia this past Sunday evening or any night is alive with color. Tree decorations, neon, windows become art and colorful people greet you as you enter their boutiques. A light of live breaks the evening from a gray winter. peace pjc

In the upper corner of the image is the building overhang protecting strollers from rain many of the downtown businesses are build this way. Five feet away it may be pouring but the people are dry allowing the rain to add another layer of reflection to the evening lights.

Veiw Through The Windsheild

DSC_0264 Windsheild Rain 11-27-14 - Copy

November 27th waiting in the car at the mall, I was taken by the rain pattern and the tree. When shooting through glass you have to decide if you want the glass in focus or the tree in the background. The auto focus from this distance wants to focus on tree. The rain is clear and moving. I wanted the windshield and the rain drops so I used manual with enough DOF to hold the tree enough to keep a feeling of repeating form.
It doesn’t rain all the time but that week it seemed to be raining all the time. Just had three days of Sun and the weather forecast on New Years Eve was clear for a few days. Well that lasted Through New Years Day. A new storm formed over the Pacific. I wonder if new storms are harder to predict if they develop over the ocean? Back East you could tell what the weather might be by looking at the maps to the west. The people and cities to the west were reporting what was happening there. I wonder since there are no people in the Pacific is it harder to figure out what is going on out there? peace pjc
