The Next One! Always Seeking the Highlight.

06.08.2021 by Peter J. Crowley // 5 Comments

When asked what is the best photo you ever made? The answer is the next one.

At 71 that is still the answer. There is so much to do archiving my life’s work. But sun relative health I will always choose going somewhere to create. It has been a long time without leaving the neighborhood to shoot, any chance to go out is welcome. Today I went for a walk around the usual block. Flowers, light, exercise is what I expected. But just 50 feet up the street a pickup stopped across from me and two landscapers jumped out and greeted my with smiles asking how are you. As they unloaded I asked may I shoot portraits. Their answer was of course again with warm smiles. The next one from today.

Out back the grass was growing high. Hiding the toys of past or future travel.

Poppies were/are in season no matter how much I love this one there is always the next one.

This one relegated to my window as a landscaper cut them down. Each day since I have a new one in the window.

Abstraction of the leaves from the Amaryllis that I began to document the life of the plant. The photographs began as soon as the first shoot appeared in January.

Vibrant was the Photoshop self taught class for June. So much color, so many options. This image I paint the image with oversaturation selecting each color bringing it to the edge of reality and beyond. Learning from the next image.

If you see me looking for the next one smile and maybe be the next one. I love flowers but portraits even more.

peace pjc

Momentary Faces 2007 to last Saturday

People who have paused in my viewfinder over the years. Some for 1/250 of a second. Many for longer deeper seeing inspiring moving me forward. All leave a mark on me all the moments last forever. peace

A day at New England Ballet

Snow angels and a flake on the tongue out my kitchen window a few days ago.

More then just an assistant. She was a constant presence for years who acquiesced to share her eyes with my vision. But was much more comfortable loading Nikons at dress rehearsal and worrying I’d fall from the arm rests. An outstanding artist in photography and many other mediums.

Bruce, coffee and sarcasm in the kitchen.  Table covered by the Sunday NYT an ash tray on good days a bag of weed.  Bruce always there.

Arnold so much inspiration so much laughter.

Brat Red a internet model from Brattleboro Vt. August 2007. Brattleboro where once I dreamed of retiring.

Organized not in a business mode. Moments that I have seen lately. peace

Late Fall around the block

12.10.2020 by Peter J. Crowley // 5 Comments

November and December the walks shorter and less frequent raindrops and lack of light. The same blocks seeking and finding something new.

Each day, each stroll I study this new to me digital world. I have had a Nikon Diggie since 2009 but never really embraced it till March when Jeff  a friend in Maine bought me a D-200 a more professional machine then my first. I have now moved to a D-7000 merely ten years behind the latest. Ha Ha. Here I come 21st century. I still don’t use auto exp. Auto Focus my eyes are not so good I have learned to tell it where to focus. I guess I use AF manually. lol

December 5th, 2020

November 11th, 2020 another fence I have been shooting for the last year. I have four seasons but I lack morning light. This time of year around 8:45 am when the variables align I will go back. The variables being 50 degrees, Sun, low pain level. It could be a while.

December 5th, 2020 a good productive day it seems. An one half hour stroll.

Questions, comments appreciated just a tad bored these day. Look around the galleries here plenty of images from 1971- 2020.

peace
